Electronic Player Passport

The FIFA Connect ID Service does not participate in any business processes related to the Clearing House. In particular, it does not store information related to player transfers, as explained in this FIFA Article. It merely enables the data to be exchanged between the systems of National Associations and FIFA TMS.

As such, when a system requests a person's details from the FIFA ID Service, the service redirects this request to all Associations that store data about this person.

For example, in the process of issuing a FIFA ID, COMET makes the request to the FIFA Connect ID Service, which then identifies potential duplicates. It reroutes the request to respective Associations, and then the person details and registration history data are received from these Associations and presented on the FIFA Merge Console.

Reciprocally, the COMET system sends all official registrations that a player has had with clubs affiliated to your Association, via the FIFA Connect ID Service Bus, when requested from another party, such as:

  • Another Member Association (in case of a potential duplicate detected) or

  • The FIFA Clearing House, to generate the EPP (Electronic Player Passport)

In this FIFA Article in Section 2, you will find the list of fields shared in response to the external system, as per the requirements of FIFA Clearing House and FIFA ID Service. The registrations provided in the response are those that meet all of the following conditions:

  • official player registrations or coach/staff/official registrations (unofficial player registrations, as well as National Team registrations, are excluded)

  • registration was active in the calendar year of the player’s 12th birthday or later

  • registrations underneath your national association (registrations outside your country are excluded, e.g., those used for international transfers)

  • registrations in status CONFIRMED (equivalent to FIFA status=active) or TERMINATED (equivalent to FIFA status=inactive). Registrations in all other statuses are excluded.
